Karachi, Pakistan — March 8, 2025
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a severe weather alert for Karachi and southern Sindh as the region braces for heavy rainfall and thunderstorms over the next 48 hours. The forecast predicts that the ongoing storm system could bring strong winds, with gusts reaching up to 70 km/h, and significant rainfall throughout the city. Local authorities have urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel and take precautions against potential flooding, especially in low-lying areas.
Meteorologists have warned that the heavy rains could lead to disruptions in daily life, including traffic delays, school closures, and power outages. Authorities have been advised to prepare for possible flash floods, particularly in rural areas of Sindh.
As of today, temperatures in Karachi are hovering around 28°C, but the expected rains are expected to cool the city down considerably.
