Lahore, Pakistan — March 8, 2025
Punjab has been experiencing much-needed rainfall due to the ongoing monsoon season, bringing relief to farmers in the region who have faced severe drought conditions in recent months. However, while the rains have been beneficial for agriculture, they also raise concerns about potential flooding.
The PMD forecasts more widespread showers across Punjab, particularly in the northern and central regions, which could lead to elevated water levels in rivers and canals. Local authorities have put flood management teams on high alert as the risk of localized flooding in low-lying areas increases.
The rainfall has also caused a drop in temperatures, with Lahore's maximum temperature now reaching around 26°C, a noticeable difference from the hot days of the previous week. Experts are advising residents to stay informed about the weather and avoid traveling in flood-prone areas.
