Heatwave Sweeps Through Southern Pakistan as Temperatures Soar

Quetta, Pakistan — March 8, 2025

Southern Pakistan, including Balochistan and parts of Sindh, is experiencing a heatwave with temperatures soaring above 40°C. Meteorologists predict that the extreme heat will continue for the next few days, creating a challenging situation for vulnerable communities and agriculture.

The PMD has warned of the risks associated with prolonged exposure to high temperatures, including heat stroke and dehydration. Health officials are advising people to stay hydrated, avoid outdoor activities during peak hours, and stay in cool, shaded areas.

Local authorities are working to provide relief by setting up cooling centers and distributing water in areas with limited access to clean drinking water. Meanwhile, the intense heat is expected to put a strain on power supplies as demand for air conditioning and cooling services increases.
